If you pay for a service that keeps your data and business information stored in the cloud, this can provide a sense of assurance knowing that information can be accessed through any secured internet connection. If your particular internet provider is not working, you can retrieve your information through other means. Some VoIP providers have a feature that automatically monitors your internet connection. If an issue is detected, you will be notified immediately via email or text. At the same time, a case will be created so the provider’s tech support team can begin working on the problem as soon as possible. When choosing a VoIP provider, it would be wise to look for this type of feature.

Alternate Number

An additional feature offered by some VoIP providers is an alternate number that can be designated ahead of time, and in the event of a power outage, all incoming business calls will be forwarded to this number. You usually have the option of selecting an alternate number for a home phone or mobile phone. This prevents you from missing any important calls when the power goes out.

Redundant Locations

When you investigate the reliability of a VoIP provider, one of the things to look for is a redundancy system. This entails having a minimum of two data centers that store and share information. If one location loses power, or has a security breach, the other one is available to maintain service, this ensuring business continuity.

Failover Procedure

This is designed to work with a redundant circuit in order to direct network traffic between two different circuits. If one circuit fails, network traffic is directed to the working circuit. Each provider has their own technological version of this, but they all basically work the same way.
