The value you place on a phone carrier is usually determined by the the services you receive compared to the price you pay. We've reviewed these specifics within 8x8 and feel they provide a better than average overall value for their product. Because they don't require any on-site software or PBX hardware, their upfront costs are kept to a minimum. You can even continue with your existing internet provider.

For small and medium sized businesses, 8x8 provides many advanced features that are often times only available for Fortune 500 companies. You can take advantage of these features without paying any additional fees. As a consumer, we feel this adds a great deal of value to their product.

The final area you will save money with 8x8 is on IT costs. Their services are fully integrated so IT and technical help, regular system maintenance, and required upgrades are all included as part of their service. This allows you to spend less on in house or contracted technical support. The admin portal also allows  you to make system changes with a few simple clicks.

8x8 does pretty well when it comes to customer support. A survey of user reviews indicates that 8x8 could improve a bit, but we found that most complaints tend to be related to timeliness of problem resolution. While we understand that users want immediate support, sometimes technical constraints don't allow an immediate fix. Just like most technology companies, 8x8 is 'figuring it out', and we've rated their support as relatively decent compared to the other providers.

The various ways you can access 8x8's customer support is pretty impressive. Depending on your style of communication, you can either pick up your phone, use an online chat window, or submit a case number through their online system. This three part support system (pretty typical with the top providers now days) allows you to get the help you need in the format that works best for you.

Unlike most companies, 8x8 provides Community Experts to help you with your problems. These experts can be found on instant chat windows and are supposed to be able to answer your questions within 5 minutes. We were surprised to find out that these Community Experts are not 8x8 employees, but rather customers and partners, just like you. Their ability to know the ins and outs of 8x8 products and services comes from using the system themselves. If you end up needing more help than the community 'Experts' can provide, you will be directed to an 8x8 Support agent.

Our favorite aspect of 8x8 customer support is their collection of explanatory videos for many of their frequently asked questions. When you select a specific question, oftentimes a video appears providing you with the visual and auditory information you need. For those of us who are visual learners, these videos are extremely helpful. All in all, we find their customer support team to be diverse, thorough and efficient.
