Callcentric is different than most VoIP phone companies. Instead of providing a certain number of minutes each month for a specific price, initial sign up is free. Customers are responsible for providing their own broadband internet connection. They also need to provide a softphone, telephone adapter, or IP phone to place calls. Once this is set up, all incoming and outgoing phone calls to other Callcentric members anywhere in the world are absolutely free.

If you want to make or receive calls from anyone who is not a Callcentric member, you can sign up for one of their service plans. Separate plans are available for making and receiving calls. Prices for these service plans range from $1.95 to $29.95 per month.

The higher priced service plans include more free minutes per month for outgoing and incoming calls. Depending on your needs, you can personalize your phone plans just the way you like.

When it comes to residential VoIP phone providers, Callcentric is in a world of its own. The two lowest phone plans are absolutely free. You heard me correctly, they are free! Customers are responsible for providing their own broadband internet connection. They also need to provide a softphone, telephone adapter, or IP phone to place calls. Once this is in place, all incoming and outgoing phone calls to other Callcentric members anywhere in the world are free.

Callcentric residential VoIP phone service is quite unique in a variety of ways. For starters, their two basic phone plans are absolutely free. Customers who sign up for these plans and don't have to pay anything to make unlimited calls to fellow Callcentric subscribers. This may sound crazy but it's completely true!

We know most individuals need to make calls to people that subscribe to a variety of phone plans. To provide for this, Callcentric has five additional phone plans that allow for calls anywhere within North America. Some plans are for a limited number of minutes each month, while other are unlimited. The choice is yours!

This notion may sound a little unusual and confusing, but once you understand how it works, it provides a great deal of flexibility and personalization.

It's also important to mention the additional phone features that come with each Callcentric plan. Although their list isn't as vast as some other VoIP phone providers, it does include all the basics. See the complete list of available features for more details.

Callcentric's residential VoIP phone service products have been designed with reliability in mind for more than a decade. The individuals who founded Callcentric had been involved in telephony services since the mid 90's. By the time they started providing VoIP service in 2005, they knew how to create a reliable service.

All sensitive customer information is encrypted and protected with SSL. This is considered by many to be the best encryption software in the industry. With this knowledge, customers can rest easy knowing their information is safe and secure.

Overall, Callcentric residential phone service scores well in the reliability department.

Callcentric Features (7.5 / 10)

For a provider of residential phone service, Callcentric does a good job of including the most popular features. To help with incoming calls, they have all the basic features such as call forwarding, call waiting, call hunt, and call return. They also provide five different types of caller ID. It's always great to see whose calling before you answer the phone.

The ability to maintain privacy and avoid unwanted calls is also highly desirable. For this reason, they provide spam call filter, telemarketer block, and whitelist features.

Last of all, we want to mention a feature that ties everything else together. It's called the My Callcentric Portal. This gives you real-time, complete control of your Callcentric account. With this you can add or remove services, view invoices, generate reports, and manage payments. This is also where you customize call routing features, check your faxes or voicemails, and determine security features. It's kind of like command central for your phone system.

Is Callcentric Residential a good value?

The biggest selling point for Callcentric is the ability to customize your phone plan. They offer seven unique phone plans that range from $0 - $29.95 a month. No other VoIP phone company we know of offers free phone plans. If price is your main concern, you can't get better than free.

Callcentric's included features are also valuable to residential customers. When comparing the features included with the monthly price, you really get a lot for the money.

Lastly, Callcentric has no contracts or commitments. This gives you the freedom to upgrade or downgrade your phone plan whenever you want.

Callcentric Customer Support (7.2 / 10)

Callcentric received a moderate rating for customer support, and we'll tell you why. The main aspect of their customer support page is a list of frequently asked questions separated into specific groups. For instance, if you click on Faxes, you'll find information about how to send and receive them, how to send an international fax, and how to fix common faxing problems. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, you can enter your desired topic in the FAQ search box.

Additional help can be found by going to the Contact Us page. From here you can send an email to Callcentric explaining your particular issue. Current customers can open what is called a Trouble Ticket. This should help you stay in contact with customer support as they do their part to correct the problem.

Although our rating for Callcentric's customer support is overall good, we wish they provided a toll-free customer support number, or live chat to help customers solve problems in a more timely manner.
