Overall Review

To provide a good overview of Jive Voice VoIP phone service, we'd like to break the following summary into three main sections: Jive's features, setup and implementation, and Jive pricing (value).

By far, our favorite aspect of Jive's Business VoIP service is their extensive list of features (80+ features at the time of this review). Many of these features can only be found with other enterprise-grade providers. Jive is one of the few companies that treats small/medium businesses like large enterprises when it comes to reliability and features.

Jive setup (they call it 'Onboarding') is simple and quick. Once your order is placed, Jive phones are shipped directly to you ready to plug and play. You don't have to purchase any additional or expensive hardware. Once your phone are hooked up, your call flow is ready to go in just a few minutes. You can use your own IP phones as well. Jive provides lots of resources to help you get set up.

Jive Voice Service pricing is simple and all-inclusive (a big plus in our book). Pricing is essentially based on number of users - the more users on your system, the less per-device pricing is. Monthly price ranges from $19.95 per device up to $29.95 per device.

Summary: Jive Business VoIP service is a very solid solution for small to medium sized businesses. You get 80+ features, a reliable network, and great user interface/management tools, all with simple monthly pricing.

Enterprise Review

Enterprise organizations rely on the ability to create a personalize communications system to meet the needs of their business and customers. Jive provides a platform that gives you complete control over your enterprise communications. Jive provides comprehensive analytics to keep track of calls, monitor employee performance, and see patterns in customer behavior. They do a great job for a relatively young company.

Regardless of size or type of business, the bottom line is always important. Businesses are usually on the look out for ways to save money without sacrificing quality of service. We are impressed by the all inclusive pricing Jive provides for hundreds of advanced features.

You can't place too high a value on good customer support. Jive has chosen to provide customers with U.S. based Tech Support that's available 24/7. Their hope is to alleviate any possible communications issues so that problems and issues can be resolved as quickly as possible.

Small & Medium Business Review

Jive VoIP for small and medium sized businesses does a good job providing enterprise-grade features and reliability at a fraction of the cost pre-VoIP systems required. Jive describes their Hosted VoIP system in terms of Control, Connect, Collaborate, and Costs.

From a call Control perspective, you can use Jive's Visual Dial Plan Editor to visually map out where incoming calls will go, wait times, auto attendants, and voicemail boxes, all in an easy to use drag-and-drop system.

Jive's 'Connect' initiative offers features such as Eavesdrop, Paging, Conference Bridge, and Unlimited Call Queues. Call Extensions is another great feature. Unlimited extensions are included in your plan and can be used in a number of ways. If two employees share the same desk, they can have separate extensions. Each extension has Find Me/Follow Me settings, and comes with a personalized voicemail box. We also like the ability you have to set up a general extension for different departments with designated ring groups that include all agents in those departments.

Collaboration is a big deal now days. Jive has some great collaboration tools, helping companies work with customers in efficient and diverse ways. Features include Virtual Fax, Voicemail-to-Email, Call Analytics, and Mobile apps.

Finally, Jive Hosted VoIP for business is great because you get tons of features that are add-ons with other providers. Some of these features include Free Call Recording, Unlimited Domestic Minutes, and Unlimited Auto Attendants.

What about Jive's customer support? This is a tough one. While we've seen a lot of users who are extremely happy with Jive's support, we've also seen many customer support complaints. Evaluating these complaints can be a bit tricky (what was the real issue, etc), but the bottom line is that Jive's customer support reviews range from great to bad. Be advised.

Summary: Jive VoIP service offers tons of great features (80+ features) for decent, per device pricing. Installation is straight forward and reliability is adequate.

Jive.com Reliability (8.9 / 10)

Jive has a pretty innovative approach to system architecture and reliability. Their cloud based system is a multi-tenant platform by design. This means that instead of virtualizing a single-tenant application on a server, a copy of the exact same system is running large enterprises and small commercial businesses. All this translates into an efficient, easy to maintain, and ultimately reliable system.

Jive's cloud-based network is engineered for redundancy across 10 Data Centers worldwide, with an additional 5000+ dedicated nodes. Note that Jive boasts a 99.995% industry leading uptime.

In terms of security, Jive VoIP's system implements encrypted, secure calling between all Jive and security-enabled endpoints.

Jive also provides a backup system for Internet outages. They call it Jive Business Continuity. It basically ensures that critical Jive functions like extension dialing, 911 calls, and intercom are available during outages. In the case of a blackout or other disruption, your calls will be routed through the closest data center to guarantee the quickest connection.

Summary: Jive VoIP service is one of the leading providers when it comes to system and network reliability.

Jive.com Features (9.0 / 10)

We'll get straight to the point. Jive scores well when it comes to features. They have over 80 features that take your business phone system to the next level.

Jive's VoIP calling features are separated into four categories: Basic Voice Features, Call Management Features, Call Center Features, and Phone Service Features. We can't discuss all of the features, so we'll highlight a few of our favorite ones.

Hot Desking. This allows multiple employees to share work space and phones. When you want to use any hot desk-enabled phone, you dial a specific number, enter your roaming profile username and password, then you're set. Once the phone reboots, it’s ready to go and you'll be able to access your Caller ID to make outbound calls, store voice mails, and receive your individual extension’s incoming calls.

One of our favorite Call Center Features is the Queue Call Spy. This allows supervisors to passively listen in on calls without the caller or employee knowing to help oversee proper procedure. You can also use Auto-Divert to essentially blacklist incoming calls from a specific number so they never bother you. With this same feature you can whitelist calls by directing them immediately to your extension, bypassing all other options.

One downside, and it's a big one, Jive doesn't include video conferencing in their service. The website shows a separate Jive Video product, but it turns out that the site isn't up to date and Jive doesn't offer video anymore. :(

Jive.com Value (9.0 / 10)

Is Jive.com a good value?

The overall value we place on a VoIP phone system is based on variation of products, available features, security protocols, flexibility and growth potential, and relative cost. Jive’s business VoIP service does a great job at providing all of these to their customers.

Their included business features are especially impressive. In fact, Jive has one of the most impressive feature sets of all the VoIP providers we've reviewed. Additionally, the cloud based nature of their contact center allows you to access information anywhere, anytime without added equipment. This type of flexibility adds up in the value department. One note though, as mentioned above, we're disappointed that JIve doesn't offer video conferencing anymore.

For small businesses that don't have large amounts of resources at their disposal, being able to use Unified Communications to keep all your contacts, interactions, and information in one place is extremely valuable. It limits the amount of equipment you need, allows you to communicate with clients all over the world, and helps you keep track of all the comings and going of your business with ease.

Summary: Jive VoIP service gets a better than average value rating.

Jive.com Customer Support (9.1 / 10)

We've given Jive Business VoIP a 7/10 rating in the customer support category. We feel their support options are adequate, but could be improved as compared to some of the other providers.

They offer extensive manuals that include detailed guides for Jive's phone system and features. These include all the instructions you need to set up your calling system properly. Jive also provides Release Notes which give detailed reviews of Jive's newest features and functions. Jive is one of the few providers that does this very well.

Jive has a decent ticketing system, enabling customers to submit help requests. Response times seem to be average compared to other providers.

Finally, phone support. Jive gets mixed reviews in this area. Most customers report better than average support, but there are instances in which Jive customer support has been described as poor and frustrating.

Summary: Jive's Customer Support is decent but could be improved.
