Nextiva Review Summary

If you're a business owner and you're not familiar with Nextiva, you should get to know them. Over 150,000 companies rely on Nextiva's communications solutions. They offer many different types of cloud-based services including VOIP Business Phone Service, Analytics, Call Center services, Virtual Faxing, Cloud Storage, and more. Our review focuses primarily on their business VOIP phone service, but we also include details of the other services when related to their VOIP offerings.

Nextiva ranks relatively high in our reviews because they're a leader in reliable, innovative, feature-rich communications services. They routinely show up in the top results of the leading VOIP technology review services. Their service is straight forward to setup and use, they provide good value with their tiered calling plans, and they have decent customer service.

We're impressed with the features Nextiva offers, even in their entry level plan (Office Pro). These include unlimited calling, a free toll-free number, unlimited virtual faxing, voicemail to email, and more. Pricing is reasonable and you can scale up as your business grows.

Bottom Line:

Nextiva is definitely a contender in our VOIP provider round up. With great features, value, and reliability we expect Nextiva to challenge our top picks as they continue to mature.

Nextiva Category Reviews

Overall rating

9.0 /10

Overall Review

Nextiva offers six main categories of services. These include VoIP Business Phone Service, call analytics, call center service, SIP trunking, cloud storage, and virtual faxing. You have access to each of these services individually, or any combination, per your business needs. Nextiva makes it simple to get started small, but then to expand as needed.

Nextiva takes quality of service and reliability seriously. They boast 99.999% uptime using the same core data communications infrastructure as the top telecom providers. They have 7 "points of presence" across the United States with 2 more coming in 2018. This distributed network provides complete fail-over redundancy, delivering virtually uninterrupted service to its users. If you need rock solid reliability, Nextiva is one of the few that we can't recommend highly enough.

Nextiva's tiered business phone service plans offer great features and capabilities at decent prices (starting at $19.95/mo. per line) with no setup fees. If you have your own PBX system, Nextiva offers SIP Trunking starting at $14.95/mo (plus $0.008/min). As mentioned above you can add Analytics, Data Storage, and more.

If you have an Enterprise-sized business, Nextiva is a great solution. Companies like Burger King, Allstate, Target, Suzuki, Slim-Fast, Sega, Krispy Kreme, and Delta trust Nextiva on a daily basis for their communications needs.

Overall, we've rated Nextiva as one of our top picks for great business VoIP phone service.

Enterprise Review

Nextiva provides a great solution to Enterprise-sized organizations. Companies like Burger King, Target, Allstate, Sega, Slim-Fast, Suzuki, Delta, Century 21, IBM, Gold's Gym, and many many more trust Nextiva with various aspects of their communications.

You can manage all of your communications (unified communications) in one place, utilizing Nextiva's simple interface - the Nextiva App, accessible from your desktop, mobile device, or desk phone. Nextiva Anywhere, another Enterprise level feature, allows you to add your cell phone and soft phone to your business phone number account. This allows you to use your mobile device as if you were calling from your desk phone.

Nextiva Office Enterprise also offers call recording for incoming or outgoing calls. This is a must for customer service training purposes.

Any large scale organization needs to have fail-safes, backups, and redundancies in place to keep data and communications secure and reliable. As we've said elsewhere, Nextiva's data communications network boasts a 99.999% up-time. And Nextiva's 'Amazing Service' culture gets to the heart of customer care and satisfaction.

Bottom line: Nextiva's Enterprise level business VoIP and other services are a good fit for medium to large sized businesses. And if you already have an in-house PBX phone system, Nextiva's award winning SIP Trunking service is a great cost-effective solution that will save your business money!

Small & Medium Business rating

9.0 /10

Small & Medium Business Review

Nextiva performs well in our Small & Medium sized business VoIP phone category. They provide a stable platform with tons of great features. They provide a flexible system that grows with your business and they provide great customer support.

From a cost savings stand point, Nextiva ranks right in there with our other top rated providers. The entry level plan starts at $19.95/mo. per user with a 36 month agreement, when you have 100+ users. Month-to-month pricing is a few more dollars per month. Note that Nextiva's pricing is based on the number of lines you need, so please check the details on their website (hover over the question mark next to the pricing).

Generally, we really like Nextiva's Small and Medium business phone service offerings, however we wish that features like the Nextiva Mobile App and the Conference Bridge were available in their entry level plan (Office Pro).

If your business has its own PBX phone system, Nextiva has great SIP Trunking plans starting at $14.95/mo plus $0.008 per minute.

Hosted PBX rating

9.2 /10

Hosted PBX Review

Like most VoIP service providers, Nextiva offers a robust hosted PBX service (Cloud PBX). They also offer SIP trunking if you have an internal PBX system that you can't part with.

Nextiva's Business Voice Service plans (Office Pro, Office Pro Plus, and Office Enterprise) all include some basic, standard cloud hosted PBX features. You get Unlimited Calling, Local and Toll Free Numbers, Virtual Faxing and more.

If you step up to Nextiva's Office Pro Plus Plan you get more features, including a professionally recorded greeting, a conference bridge, Nextiva's Mobile App, and more. This plan, by the way, is Nextiva's most popular voice service plan.

The top tier plan (Office Enterprise) includes all of the features that you might expect in a full-features cloud based PBX system plus tons of features that modern data and customer management tools bring to the table.

Nextiva's hosted PBX service is a solid solution to small-to-medium size businesses. They have one of the coolest user interfaces out there that they've developed from the ground up. Great service!

Nextiva Reliability (9.0 / 10)

Nextiva rates highly in the reliability and security categories. Nextiva's enterprise-grade platform includes 7 "points of presence" (POP) distributed across the United States. This distributed network is built on the main infrastructure that most of the top 20 telecom providers are built on. The result: Nextiva's boasts 99.999% uptime. Two more centers will be added to network in 2018. The centers will be located in Seattle and Toronto.

We were impressed that Nextiva offers transparent real-time status updates for their customers. This transparency stems from Nextiva's confidence in their platform and network. Clearly a plus when it comes to consumer confidence.

If you encounter issues with your calling system, it's essential to have ready support. Each Nextiva account is assigned a dedicated manager that provides a personal and direct point of contact. This individual will help solve your problems, or direct you to other sources for help which are available via chat, phone, or email. From what we've seen, Nextiva does an exceptional job at creating a reliable product for its customers.

Nextiva Features (9.0 / 10)

A Summary of Nextiva Features

Nextiva's plans all include the basic features you need in small business calling system. The Office Pro Plan, the entry level plan, offers 12 standard features and you get more as you move up the through the Office Pro Plus plan to the Office Enterprise Plan.

Some of the features in the Office Pro Plan include Cloud PBX, unlimited calling and virtual faxing, free number porting, and free local and toll free numbers. One standard Nextiva feature that we like is Voicemail to Email - a .wav file of the message is sent to your email. Not all providers include this great time-saving feature.

The Nextiva Office Pro Plus plan adds on a few extra features that honestly we wish were included at the entry level. These include the Nextiva Mobile App and the Conference Bridge. The mobile app is similar to what other providers offer (often in the entry level plan), allowing you to utilize the service from your desktop, cell phone, or other mobile device.

The Office Enterprise business calling plan offers a few other features that really make a difference at the Enterprise level. Nextiva Value (9.0 / 10)

Is Nextiva a good value?

When we assess the overall value of a VoIP service provider, we consider the quality of the product, the pricing, the extra features and tools available to customers, and the service's ability to offer new and exciting capabilities as VoIP technology continues to evolve. Nextiva is one of our top rated providers when it comes to value!

Their product line is simple, and focused on the key elements of business communications. They offer the most popular, critical business calling and data features, but they seem to be committed to being on the forefront of VoIP and other Internet powered app and data services technology. It looks like Nextiva is in the game to win.

Nextiva's commitment to value can be seen in their newly developed NextOS Operating System. This system is Nextiva's next level service for providing business owners a completely customizable communications interface system that incorporates call analytics, workforce productivity metrics, productivity tools, and more. NextOS isn't broadly available yet, but expect great things as the system is deployed.

Nextiva Customer Support (8.9 / 10)

If you go to Nextiva's website, you can find a page where they discuss how great their service is. In fact, when you look at the page, the phrase "Amazing Service"® has a register mark next to it. This struck us a little funny at first (e.g. can you register a phrase like that?). However, the more we researched, the more we realized that Amazing Service is a concept that permeates everything Nextiva does.

Nextiva aspires to have the best customer support online (period). If you take some time to listen to their employees discuss what Amazing Service means to them (Nextiva has videos on their site), you'll get to know how deeply this commitment to excellence has permeated the employee culture. Nextiva strives for the following:

  • 95% of support calls answered by 2nd ring
  • First call resolution
  • Little or no hold time

Our review of customer comments and ratings indicates that Nextiva is doing pretty well in the Customer Support area. Of course no company does this perfectly, it's a huge task considering the sheer number of users involved, but it looks like Nextiva is a leader in solving the customer support 'problem'.

One of the ways Nextiva supports their customers well is by providing a very thorough Support Center (website). Covering topics from Getting Started, to detailed instructions on calling features, to troubleshooting procedures, the support center does a good job getting users up to speed and through typical problems.

Based on Nextiva's commitment to customer support, we given them a better than average rating of 8.5/10.

The Office Enterprise Plan is Nextiva's most extensive plan and is designed to fit the needs of large businesses and other entities. This plan includes all the features from the less expensive plans, plus three additional features we think most enterprise organizations would find very helpful.

The first additional feature that comes with this plan is 3 professionally recorded greetings that you can create yourself, or have Nextiva record for you. You also have access to call recording which allows you to record incoming and outgoing calls for training purposes.

The last additional feature included with the Office Enterprise Plan is Nextiva Anywhere. This feature allows you to connect your calls to a designated external phone, like a cell phone, so that it rings along with your office phone. If you dial out from this designated phone, the caller ID shown to your call recipient will appear as if you're calling from your work phone.
