Overall Review

RingCentral is an exciting and growing cloud-based communications company. They provide products that connect employees and clients in new and innovative ways. They offer a modern cloud-based communication and collaboration platform which does the work of a traditional office phone system, virtual PBX, and VoIP business phone service combined.

RingCentral's list of business features is pretty comprehensive. They've taken the time to provide great tools for voice, video and team messaging that enhance collaboration and communication, ahead of some of the more established providers. With RingCentral it's simple to hold online meetings with employees all around the world.

In addition to great calling and collaboration tools, RingCentral offers contact center solutions, that allow you to connect and route customers to the appropriate contact within your business, all from a powerful control center application. RingCentral takes system reliability very seriously as indicated by their early decision to build their own technology and network, and to build in redundancy across all areas they occupy geographically. Note that we've rated their reliability a score of 9.5. Overall, RingCentral is a solid solution for business communications needs. They've ranked in our top 3 for some time now.

Enterprise Review

RingCentral is trusted and used by many Enterprise sized organizations including Box, Tuff Shed, Carvana, Del Monte, The Salvation Army, and Pacific BMW. Forbes included RingCentral in their list of The 100 Most Trustworthy Companies in America in both 2016 and 2017. Needless to say, RingCentral has made a name for themselves. They are one of our top rated companies.

If your organization has more than 500 users (RingCentral's definition of Enterprise), you can benefit from RingCentral's Enterprise solutions. We recommend that you get online with a sales representative or call them for more details on the types of bulk savings they offer.

No matter what plan or offering you select with RingCentral, one of the features we've been impressed with is their flexibility when it comes to growth and changes within your system. It’s easy to add and delete users, manage extensions and groups all over the world, and assign phones to anyone in your organization. This can all be done without the help of an IT department, or a contractor. Once set up, all of your users can manage most of their individual settings from their own computers or smartphones. Enterprise sized organizations can benefit greatly from this user autonomy.

While RingCentral isn't our number one rated Enterprise VOIP service provider, they are a strong contender in the large/enterprise sized business category. We expect them to remain competitive as they continue to grow and mature.

Small & Medium Business Review

RingCentral has become a hugely successful cloud communications provider for small and medium sized businesses in the last several years, offering business phone service (VOIP), video conferencing, online meetings, Internet fax, mobile apps and more. Indeed, Synergy Research Group has ranked RingCentral as the #1 cloud communications provider worldwide. Our analysis shows that RingCentral's success is well deserved. They're reliable, provide good value, and have a growing feature-set.

RingCentral's cloud-based platform allows your system to be flexible, mobile, and keeps your data and information somewhere safe and accessible. RingCentral setup is fast and seamless with the help of an implementation specialist assigned to ensure a smooth transition for your business.

When you get started with RingCentral, you'll be given an account representative to help determine how many users and IP phones your business will need. Desk phones show up within days ready to plug in and start calling. Your employees will use an IP phone, their desktops, or their smartphones.

The RingCentral mobile apps (for iPhone and Android devices) are extremely powerful and integrate your employees' mobile devices with your company business phone system. Through the app, employees can use the company directory, make calls, send texts, check voicemail, and send or receive faxes. Every interaction they have with clients will display their business number designated through the app. This allows them to use personal devices for business use if desired. The app also allows employees to participate in online meetings or video conferences. Based on all that we've seen from RingCentral, we think their services will work quite well for most small businesses.

Hosted PBX Review

RingCentral's Hosted PBX service in a leader in the industry. They refer to their product as Virtual PBX (another name for hosted PBX). RingCentral has been an early leader in the hosted PBX revolution, moving many old-school, traditional PBX systems to the cloud. As such, they've been able to gain a good handle on developing IP PBX technologies, ensuring they'll continue to be one of the top cloud based PBX providers.

RingCentral's Virtual PBX service leverages the power of the internet and mobile technologies to combine traditional PBX voice features like voicemail, extensions, fax, conferencing with new next-level features like business SMS, online meetings, and mobile apps. And, as VoIP and PBX technology advance, RingCentral's services and features just get better and better.

RingCentral's Cloud PBX service is reliable, secure, and provides tons of features. Their service is flexible and scales with your business needs. We recommend RingCentral hosted PBX service for small to medium sized business (SMB).

RingCentral Reliability (9.5 / 10)

Unlike many VoIP phone providers, RingCentral makes it quite easy to find information on the steps they take to ensure the reliability of their product. One of these steps is to build their own technology network rather than relying on the technology of others. They also provide powerful security measures at every level of the process. These include everything from the physical, infrastructure, and host processes, to the data, application, and business processes as well.

You can't predict natural disasters, power outages, and network attacks, but you can prepare for them. RingCentral has set up a distributed network that is fully redundant in all of their global locations. This ensures that your business can maintain communications without having to lose downtime or potential profits.

Through their self-service portal, you can check the health of your system 24/7 to confirm whether your communications services are working properly and monitor the status of system-wide problems. In the case of an emergency, failover conditions are in place. SIP Trunking allows RingCentral to move active services from one data center to another to maintain a continuity of service for their customers. For all these reasons, we've given the highest rating yet for reliability to RingCentral.

RingCentral Features (9.0 / 10)

A Summary of RingCentral Features

RingCentral has a very organized page of available features separated into distinct categories. These include features involving cloud pbx, phone numbers, call management, collaboration, integrations, and voicemail, just to name a few. Having them separated this way makes it easier for customers to find the features they're looking for. They do have an impressive collection of features, so feel free to scroll down to show more.

RingCentral Value (9.5 / 10)

Is RingCentral a good value?

RingCentral focuses on providing phone and communication services for small to very large businesses. In order to accommodate the different needs of each organization, they have four plans to choose from that vary in price and scale. The pricing for each plan seems highly reasonable based on the amount of features you get with each plan.

All four plans include things like unlimited calls and texts, business SMS, advanced voicemail capabilities, instant messaging and chat rooms, and mobile apps. When you move up to their second plan, you get internet faxes, call logs, plus a multi-level auto attendant that can route all your incoming calls. For an annual price of $24.99 a month per user, this seems like a good value.

The two highest plans include more advanced integrations, automatic call recording, custom app development, single sign on, plus the ability to have between 50-75 separate individuals included on video meetings. We could see how these additional features would be highly valuable for larger organizations. The only additional feature provided by the highest plan besides having more people on video meetings is voicemail to text. Based on your needs, you can choose the best value for business.

RingCentral Customer Support (9.6 / 10)

Ring Central's Customer Care Center is very large and multi-layered. Through their Ring Central University you can sign up for training webinars which usually happen multiple times a week; you just need to select your desired webinar and sign up. They provide self-paced online training that is only available for customers. You'll also find something they call Knowledge-base which is a database of topics that you can use to search for articles or documents that might help with your issue.

Some additional resources are available to further help new customers. You can watch videos on the best way to use your new features, how to use desktop applications to sync contacts and set up extensions, or the steps for using mobile applications to manage your system through a smartphone. If you want to send and receive faxes with your computer, tablet, or smartphone, this is where you'll learn how.

As you continue following additional links, you'll find guides and videos that explain everything an employee or administrator needs to know about features, tools, integrations, and configurations. Desktop software can be download for PC or mac, including mobile apps and integrations. If you still can't find what you're looking for, follow the "contact us" links and you can either chat or speak with a representative, visit the community forum, or open a web case.
