VoIPo Residential Review Summary

VOIPo service is a replacement your landline phone system and doesn't require the use of a computer. You can still use regular phones to make and receive virtually unlimited calls. During the sign up process you can request a new number, or transfer your existing number.

VoIPo is set up differently than most internet phone providers. You can select a monthly plan or a 2 year plan. The monthly plan doesn't require a contract, but the price is slightly higher. If you select the 2 year plan, you do need to abide by the contract, but your monthly payments are lower.

Setting up your new phone service is very simple. Once you submit your order, they'll ship you a VoIPo adapter. Just plug the adapter into your broadband internet connection, then plug your telephones into the adapter as well, and you'll be able to make calls immediately.

Overall Review

Cloud service from VoIPo provides phone and communication services that are completely in the cloud. This means you won't have to purchase or maintain extra equipment. As a residential customer, it's nice to limit the amount of equipment you need, especially when starting a new service.

With Cloud VoIP service, you can also select a US or toll-free number. A US number can be a new one that you choose, or an existing one that you transfer. Either way, you definitely have options when it comes to your specific phone number.

VOIPo's phone service plan offers nearly unlimited calling to anywhere within the continental US and Canada. For calls outside of this area, they offer low international calling rates. Calls to several countries, such as Brazil, Italy, India and Spain will cost just $.02 a minute.

Residential Review

For this review we'd like to share our favorite features of VoIPo residential service. With any plan you select, you get unlimited calls to any phone number within the US. You can also send and receive SMS text messages. Like most phone providers, you do get Caller ID with name, but VoIPo as gone even further and added Call Waiting ID with name. This allows you to view the full name and number of any incoming calls, even if you're already on the line.

In effort to make your home phone more like a cell phone, VoIPo provides call blocking and do not disturb options. Having the ability to avoid incoming calls as desired is a huge bonus. You have access to advanced voicemail features, including checking your messages over the phone, plus notifications with transcribed voicemail messages sent to your email inbox.

The last few things we think residential customers would appreciate are unlimited speed dial and distinctive ringtones. You can create as many speed dial codes as you want with a few clicks. You can also add or modify these numbers and contacts as needed. While you're at it, set up distinctive ringtones for specific phone numbers so you know who is calling before even picking up your phone.

  • Unlimited Calls in US
  • 40+ Calling Features
  • 3-Way Calling
  • Caller ID
  • Distinctive Ringtones
  • Online Call History
  • Do Not Disturb

VoIPo Residential Reliability (8.8 / 10)

One factor that helps determine the reliability of a company is the amount of debt accrued. A company that's in the black is one you want to do business with. The fact that VoIPo is privately-owned, owner-managed debt-free, and currently profitable speaks positively with regards to reliability. This could be an indication of responsible business practices from a company you can count on.

It's also wise to go into businesses that stand by their product. If you're not happy with VoIPo residential service, you can just cancel within 30 days and return their adapter. At this point, 100% of your service fees will be refunded. From what we can see, their service appears to be reliable. However, if it's not, at least you have the option of canceling service.

VoIPo Residential Features (8.8 / 10)

A Summary of VoIPo Residential Features

The features available with VoIPo Residential service come in two groups: cloud number features and phone service features. Depending on the service you subscribe to, some or all of these features will be available. For example a cloud service plan includes online call logs, sending faxes, inbound SIP address, caller ID, and voicemail boxes.

If you select VoIP phone service, many more features are available. As is the case with cloud features, these are separated into three main categories: basic, convenience, and advanced. Call forwarding, three way calling, call blocking, caller ID, and do not disturb are just some of the features you get with phone service. For those interested in convenience features, 411, softphone, 711, and e911 service are also available.

The final category of available features is advanced. These provide different ways to receive incoming calls, store voicemail, and keep track of your contacts. You can use simultaneous ring to call reach multiple numbers, create virtual phone numbers, an even have distinctive ringtones. In addition, you can use SMS to make changes to your account remotely. Between these three categories, you have a nice collection of useful features for your home phone system.

VoIPo Residential Value (9.2 / 10)

Is VoIPo Residential a good value?

VoIPo Residential Service has received a higher than average rating for overall value. We think they provide good service at better than average prices. While most plans start around $19.99 a month, VoIPo has plans as low as $6.21 a month. If overall cost is your number one priority, VoIPo could be just what you're looking for.

Most companies charge extra for every extension and user that's on your plan. With VOIPo, you can setup unlimited extensions without being charged additional fees. You can add or subtract extensions as needed, and only pay for the ones you use.

VoIP0's Pay As You Go Pricing is the final aspect we'd like to mention. This allows you to pay for what you use each month, and nothing more. Phone numbers cost $1 a month and each domestic call is just $0.01/min. However, if you like to plan further in advance, many of their other plans allow customers to pay monthly, yearly, or sometimes up to 2 years at a time.

VoIPo Residential Customer Support (9.0 / 10)

The main support page for VoIPo is easy to use and is comprised of three main areas. These include installation guides, feature support, and support knowledgebase. The link for installation guides takes you to a page with four other links that help you properly installing your VoIPo adapter with your phone system.

We found the knowledgebase page to be the most helpful for finding instructions and answers to most questions. There are close to one hundred different articles that talk about features, installation, and troubleshooting. If you don't see what you're looking for, go ahead and search for a keyword or phrase. If you still can't find the answer, check out the customer forums to chat with other VoIPo customers. If all else fails, you can contact customer support through email or phone.

The last thing we want to mention is something highly unusual. If you can't find a solution to your problem with the help of customer support, you can e-mail the company owner directly for additional assistance. In all the reviews we've done for VoIP service providers, we've never seen anything quite like this.
